Founder and lead brand champion of Vivid IP, Marcy’s career spans 15-plus years of expertise as a practicing trademark and IP attorney—including at premier firms King & Spalding and Womble Bond Dickson. After honing her proactive, protective, and persistent approach over hundreds of successful engagements for clients in the biopharmaceutical, entertainment, hotel and hospitality, and technology industries, Marcy launched her own IP law firm in 2017. She saw that the traditional, corporate-firm approach wasn’t fully serving her most creative, innovative clientele. They needed an alternative: Big-name, big-firm experience, but with a boutique, progressive approach. A transparent, simple pricing system built for today’s business. A bold, new IP partner for the modern world. Within a year she’d captured her firm’s unique offerings with a rebrand of its own. In 2019, Vivid IP was born.

Marcy’s talent for seeing the complete landscape of every challenge—anticipating obstacles, spotting opportunities, and charting optimal IP solutions ahead of the curve and the competition—gives her clients a distinct advantage. But it’s her focused, unwavering approach to establishing and defending her clients’ intellectual property rights that truly sets Marcy—and Vivid IP—apart. Her trademark “can-do, won’t-quit” spirit is as much in evidence when she’s coaching her youngest son’s soccer team as when she’s leading her clients to legal victory.

Meet Marcy

Why Vivid IP?

“We chose to brand ourselves as Vivid IP instead of a more traditional, last-name law firm because we develop and protect the unique brands of creative enterprises. Our brand lets us stand apart, while instantly communicating who we are and what our clients can expect from us. Vivid conveys thriving imagination, bold and vibrant ideas—which are the wellsprings of the IP we staunchly protect.”

What are your “now” and “next” goals?

“Given Atlanta’s booming music, TV, and film industry, we’re excited about expanding our entertainment IP practice and developing and optimizing IP portfolios for artists. We’re also working to strengthen our biomedical practice as part of our membership with Georgia Bio in light of the explosive growth of the biopharmaceutical industry. And, of course, we want to be THE boutique IP firm of choice in Atlanta.”

What’s one piece of advice you’ll never forget?

“The four agreements: Be impeccable with your word; Don’t take anything personally; Don’t make assumptions; And always do your best. I also live by my favorite quote: ‘Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all,’ from Helen Keller.”

Outside of practicing law, what are you most passionate about?

“My three boys, playing tennis, coaching soccer, skiing, and reading. I love a challenge, I love adrenaline, and I love a well-earned win.”
